Jakarta — The Government of Central Java Province has been honored as the best-performing region in Indonesia’s national housing program. The award was presented by Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, to Governor Ahmad Luthfi during the National Housing Day (Hapernas) 2025 celebration at Wisma Mandiri II, Central Jakarta, on Monday, August 25.

According to Minister Sirait, Central Java stood out for allocating the largest budget for housing initiatives nationwide. The province set an ambitious target of constructing 17,510 housing units in 2025, far surpassing Aceh with 3,114 units and East Java with 2,110 units. He also noted the significant growth in subsidized housing under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Luthfi.

“Thank you for your hard work, Governor,” Sirait remarked, acknowledging Central Java’s pioneering efforts in housing provision.

Governor Luthfi, in his response, emphasized that the recognition will further motivate provincial and municipal governments, agencies, and stakeholders to continue delivering quality services in housing. He highlighted that the 17,000 units of livable housing improvement will provide crucial support for communities struggling with extreme poverty.

As of the end of 2024, Central Java faced a housing backlog of over 1.3 million units. To address this, the provincial government has allocated funds in 2025 for 17,510 units, consisting of 17,000 renovations for uninhabitable homes and 510 new houses built through social assistance. “This is a collaborative effort across agencies, including labor and social affairs, to accelerate poverty alleviation,” Luthfi explained.

Boedyo Dharmawan, Head of Central Java’s Housing and Settlement Agency, reiterated that the achievement reflects the province’s strong commitment under Governor Ahmad Luthfi and Deputy Governor Taj Yasin in supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s national target of 3 million houses.

In total, Central Java is set to deliver around 26,000 housing units in 2025. This figure includes contributions from the provincial government, local governments, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. “Collaboration with the central government, municipalities, and the private sector is essential, and we are monitoring progress closely,” Boedyo stated.

The recognition underscores Central Java’s leadership in addressing housing needs, tackling extreme poverty, and reinforcing national development goals through comprehensive and collaborative programs.
