BRI Group wins six international awards from FinanceAsia 2026, highlighting leadership, ESG, investor relations, DEI, banking and securities services.
JAKARTA — Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Group has strengthened its standing in the regional financial sector after securing six international recognitions from FinanceAsia 2026. The awards reflect the group’s performance across leadership, sustainability, investor relations, diversity and inclusion, banking, and securities services.
The recognitions came through two FinanceAsia programmes: the Asia’s Best Companies 2026 Poll and the FinanceAsia Awards 2026. Together, the six awards provide a broad assessment of BRI Group’s position not only as a major Indonesian financial institution, but also as an increasingly visible participant in the wider Asian financial landscape.
One of the most prominent recognitions went to Hery Gunardi, President Director and Group CEO of BRI, who was named Best CEO in the Asia’s Best Companies 2026 Poll. The award was based on surveys involving investors and analysts assessing leading companies across Asian sectors, giving the recognition particular significance from a regional capital-market perspective.
BRI also received a Gold award for Best Investor Relations (Domestic) and a Bronze award for Most Committed ESG. These recognitions point to the growing importance of transparency, sustainability and stakeholder engagement in determining the competitiveness of financial institutions operating across ASEAN markets.
The second group of awards came through the FinanceAsia Awards 2026. BRI was named Most DEI Progressive Bank and received a Highly Commended distinction for Best Bank – Domestic. Meanwhile, its subsidiary BRI Danareksa Sekuritas (BRIDS) won Best Domestic Securities Services 2026, extending the recognition across both banking and capital-market services.
FinanceAsia’s assessment of BRI’s DEI initiatives provides an important regional perspective. The publication highlighted how BRI has incorporated diversity, equity and inclusion into its workforce strategy, customer approach and community impact. Nearly IDR185 trillion in micro and ultra-micro financing was identified as primarily benefiting women entrepreneurs, while financial literacy initiatives have reached more than 113,000 women.
The scale of BRI’s financial inclusion network is also significant for a region where access to formal financial services remains a major development priority. FinanceAsia noted that BRI operates more than one million BRILink agents and has more than 183 million savings accounts nationwide. Such infrastructure provides an example of how a large banking institution can combine commercial operations with broader financial-access objectives.
From an ASEAN perspective, these developments are particularly relevant as financial institutions across Southeast Asia face similar pressures: accelerating digitalisation, changing customer expectations, greater scrutiny of ESG practices, and the need to expand access to underserved communities.
BRI’s recognition for DEI also reflects a broader shift in the regional banking industry. Diversity and inclusion are increasingly viewed not simply as internal human-resource initiatives, but as elements that can influence customer reach, product development, workforce capability and long-term institutional resilience.
Hery Gunardi said the awards represented recognition of BRI’s business model in delivering financial services that are inclusive, relevant and competitive. He also attributed the achievement to the collective contribution of BRI employees and the company’s continuing transformation programme.
The recognition comes as BRI continues to strengthen its business fundamentals. In the second quarter of 2026, BRI reported net profit of IDR31.2 trillion, representing annual growth of 17.5 percent, while MSME financing accounted for 75.1 percent of its total credit and financing portfolio as of June 2026. This combination of financial performance and inclusion provides an important context for understanding the group’s international recognition.
For ASEAN’s financial sector, BRI’s latest awards offer a broader indication of how competitiveness is being defined. Scale remains important, but institutions are increasingly expected to demonstrate responsible growth, strong governance, effective engagement with investors, technological adaptability and measurable social impact.
The six FinanceAsia awards therefore represent more than individual accolades. They underline BRI Group’s expanding regional profile while demonstrating how an Indonesian financial institution can build international recognition through a combination of leadership, financial inclusion, sustainability and market capability.
As ASEAN financial markets become increasingly interconnected, institutions with the ability to balance commercial strength and inclusive development will remain important to the region’s financial evolution. BRI’s latest recognition from FinanceAsia places the group firmly within that continuing conversation.
