Astra’s return to Fortune Indonesia 100 2026 highlights the scale of Indonesia’s corporate sector, supported by more than 190,000 employees and a diversified ASEAN-relevant business ecosystem.

JAKARTA — PT Astra International Tbk has once again been recognized among Indonesia’s largest companies, securing fourth place in the Fortune Indonesia 100 2026 ranking. The recognition comes as Astra approaches seven decades of operations, with a business structure that spans automotive, financial services, mining and heavy equipment, as well as several other sectors.

The 2026 Fortune Indonesia 100 ranking is based on audited financial statements for the 2025 financial year, using indicators including revenue, net profit, total assets, equity and market capitalization. Astra’s fourth-place position therefore reflects its scale and financial standing within Indonesia’s corporate landscape rather than simply the size of its workforce.

At the same event, Astra received the Fortune Indonesia Outstanding Growth 2026: Biggest Company by Total Employees recognition. The company is currently supported by more than 190,000 employees and has 324 subsidiaries, joint ventures and associated entities. Its three core businesses are Automotive, Financial Services, and Mining Solutions & Heavy Equipment, complemented by a wider portfolio of businesses.

For the ASEAN region, Astra’s development offers a perspective on how a large Indonesian corporate group has built an interconnected business ecosystem across sectors. Indonesia represents the region’s largest economy by nominal GDP, and the scale of companies operating in its domestic market can have implications for regional supply chains, financing, mobility, infrastructure and industrial activity.

Astra’s automotive activities, for example, extend across vehicles, components and logistics, while its financial-services portfolio includes vehicle and heavy-equipment financing, insurance, electronic money and banking. Its mining and heavy-equipment operations cover areas such as mining solutions, construction machinery, mining contractors, construction and energy.

The breadth of these activities is particularly relevant as ASEAN economies continue to experience changes in mobility, industrial production, infrastructure development and financial services. For large corporate groups, maintaining competitiveness increasingly requires the ability to manage different business cycles while identifying opportunities for collaboration across sectors.

Astra has responded to this environment by sharpening its strategic priorities as it moves toward its seventh decade. In May 2026, the company announced a strategic focus on its three core businesses, while adopting a more targeted approach to its wider portfolio. The strategy also emphasizes stronger capital-allocation discipline and the development of strategic partnerships to complement Astra’s capabilities and long-term growth requirements.

Human capital remains another significant element of Astra’s regional relevance. With a workforce exceeding 190,000 people, organizational capability becomes an important component of maintaining consistency across a highly diversified business structure. Astra says its People Roadmap is designed to strengthen a safe, inclusive, collaborative and sustainable working environment while supporting employee capability and leadership development.

The company’s human-capital agenda has also included initiatives related to diversity and inclusion. In 2026, Astra received recognition from HR Asia and highlighted initiatives such as Perempuan Astra, a community with more than 3,000 members across the Group, as well as a Diversity Awareness Program for Astra’s leaders.

Beyond commercial activities, Astra’s social programs also extend across communities in Indonesia. Its Desa Sejahtera Astra program has reached more than 1,500 villages across 35 provinces, focusing on health, education, environment and entrepreneurship. The company has also used the SATU Indonesia Awards since 2010 to recognize young Indonesians contributing to community development and innovation.

Astra’s journey from a trading company established with four employees to a diversified corporate group with more than 190,000 employees illustrates the long-term transformation of Indonesia’s private-sector landscape. The company has described its 69th anniversary in 2026 as a transition toward the next milestone of 70 years, with continued emphasis on long-term contribution to Indonesia.

As ASEAN continues to deepen economic connectivity, the development of large domestic corporations such as Astra remains relevant to the region’s broader business narrative. Its current strategy combines portfolio focus, capital discipline, human-capital development and social contribution—areas that will remain important as companies across Southeast Asia navigate changing markets and pursue sustainable long-term growth.
