Manila – The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), a pillar of the Philippine banking sector, has been recognised with two prestigious titles at the Asian Management Excellence Awards 2025, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to innovation, employee empowerment, and sustainable finance within the ASEAN region.
BPI received accolades for Philippines Innovator of the Year – Banking and Philippines Employee Engagement of the Year – Banking, underscoring its leading role in redefining workplace culture and advancing inclusive financial solutions. This achievement was largely driven by the dynamic leadership of Dexter Lloyd Cuajotor, BPI’s Vice President and Head of Retail Lending and Bancassurance.
Under Cuajotor’s guidance, BPI’s retail lending portfolio achieved a 32% year-on-year increase, fuelled by customer-centricity, data-informed decisions, and digital transformation. He also spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives such as the Lead Coordinators Network, enabling agile collaboration across 22 locations and facilitating coordinated community response during national emergencies.
In parallel, the launch of BPI ICare IShare, a nationwide volunteerism platform, exemplifies the bank’s deeper integration with local communities. In its most recent cycle, over 120 employee volunteers impacted more than 300 lives, reinforcing the organisation’s culture of service and social responsibility.
On the financial innovation front, BPI introduced MyBahay—a landmark housing loan for low-income families—and Green Solutions, the country’s first retail sustainability lending suite. Combined, these programmes supported over 6,000 families and generated PHP6.5 billion in sustainable lending.
Central to BPI’s transformation is its Innovation Lab, a structured yet agile platform where employees are encouraged to prototype and implement new ideas within a 60-day cycle. The initiative has already yielded over 100 impactful projects across departments, driving both employee fulfilment and operational excellence.
The Asian Management Excellence Awards celebrates outstanding leadership across Asia in categories including innovation, health and wellness, and workforce development. BPI’s twin victories reinforce its position as a benchmark institution within ASEAN, one that is shaping the future of banking through inclusion, agility, and long-term value creation.
