Garut, Indonesia – Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 Garut has earned national recognition for its dedication to sustainability by receiving the 2025 Adiwiyata Environmental Award, presented by Bakti Barito Foundation and the Garut District Environmental Agency.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the IPI Garut Auditorium as part of the World Environment Day celebration in the Garut Regency.

Acting Principal Dr. Bulan Fariz Johar Maknun Misbah, M.Pd., expressed gratitude and pride in the school’s achievement. “This is a meaningful milestone for our institution and a testament to the dedication of our educators and staff who have fostered a culture of environmental awareness within the school,” she stated.

Dr. Bulan emphasized that the award is not an end, but a shared commitment that must continue to grow. “This success should inspire us to aim higher—toward provincial, national, and even Adiwiyata Mandiri status,” she added, referring to the highest tier of Indonesia’s environmentally friendly school program.

Fahmi Firdaus Hilmi, Vice Principal of Student Affairs, elaborated on the comprehensive evaluation process. “Assessment criteria include energy and water conservation, sanitation and drainage, waste management, tree care, healthy living practices, environmental education innovations, public campaigns, and the development of Adiwiyata student cadres,” he explained.

The Adiwiyata Award, launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, is part of the country’s broader initiative to promote environmental stewardship in education. It supports the ASEAN region’s push for climate resilience and sustainability through grassroots efforts.

MAN 3 Garut’s achievement positions it as a role model in West Java and reflects ASEAN’s collective commitment to eco-conscious education. By empowering students to become agents of change, the school contributes not only to a cleaner environment but also to a more sustainable ASEAN future.
