The accolades continue to pour in for Universitas Islam Madura (UIM), as it clinched two prestigious awards at the Asia Excellence Choice Awards 2023/2024, held on Saturday (December 9, 2023). The event, comprising the Asia Excellence Education and Educator Winner Choice 2023/2024 categories, was hosted by Asia Award Media and witnessed UIM’s triumph at the Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya.
Mohammad Subhan, the Vice Rector I of Universitas Islam Madura, elucidated that UIM was acclaimed as an Outstanding Competitive Asian Campus, while Rektor UIM, Ahmad, was hailed as a Top Personal Leader Initiator for his extensive collaborative endeavors.
“Over a meticulous 14-day assessment period, evaluators descended upon our campus premises based on recommendations from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Our institution was deemed outstanding in terms of competitiveness on the Asian stage,” expressed Subhan to mediajatim.com on Sunday (December 10, 2023).
Subhan further elaborated on the exceptional merits that contributed to UIM’s resounding success, notably its prolific scholarly publications. “Our foremost achievement stems from our prolific academic publications, securing the top position among both public and private higher education institutions in Madura according to uniRank. In East Java, we rank within the top 20. This accolade resonates with UIM’s vision to become an outstanding, competitive Asian campus by 2045. Remarkably, we have already garnered recognition in 2023 through various programs and collaborations with several Asian institutions,” he expounded.
However, UIM’s quest for excellence extends beyond scholarly pursuits, as Subhan elucidated on strategic initiatives geared towards attaining this prestigious Asian recognition. “For instance, our students are mandated to be proficient in English, a fundamental prerequisite for Asian competitiveness. We have implemented an intensive one-year program mandatory for all students, alongside international community service programs and teaching engagements, positioning us firmly on the Asian stage,” he detailed.
Subhan underscored Rektor UIM Ahmad’s pivotal role in fostering partnerships, attributing his Asia-wide acclaim to his proactive engagement with external stakeholders. “Rektor UIM has emerged as a leading figure in driving initiatives at the Asian level due to his exceptional communication skills and extensive collaboration efforts. Our aspirations transcend Asia; we’re also targeting Europe,” he remarked.
Expressing hope for UIM’s continued zeal and dedication towards educational enhancement, Subhan emphasized the institution’s confidence in its educational, research, and community engagement standards. “We are increasingly confident that our campus, in terms of its teaching standards, research endeavors, and community outreach, is at par with Asian benchmarks,” he concluded.
