Manila – The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has officially opened nominations for the 2025 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards, an annual recognition of outstanding media contributions that raise awareness on migration-related issues and promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos.
Established in 2011, the MAM Awards are held as part of the national observance of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day every December. The awards underscore the media’s vital role in telling the complex and often emotional stories of Filipino migrants, who number over 10 million across the globe.
CFO Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II emphasized the significance of migrant narratives:
“Their narratives – both triumphs and struggles – and contributions to their host countries and the motherland, deserve more public awareness and recognition. And this is where the media plays the part – in raising public awareness of the plight, issues, challenges, and success of our Filipino migrants.”
The awards are open to media practitioners and organizations based in the Philippines or abroad. Eligible works must have been released or accomplishments made between January 2022 and June 2025.
There are seven award categories:
- Print Journalism Award
- Radio Journalism Award
- Television Journalism Award
- Film Media Award
- Interactive Media Award
- Advertisement Award
- Media Advocate Award
Media entries should highlight pressing migration issues such as human trafficking, illegal recruitment, remittance trends, brain drain vs. brain circulation, and the social impact on families left behind. The award also honors individuals and organizations that promote a positive and dignified image of Filipinos abroad.
The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2025. Winners will be awarded in December during the national Month of Overseas Filipinos celebrations.
