Jakarta, Indonesia – Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to child protection and welfare as Indramayu District was awarded the Child-Friendly City/District (KLA) Award 2025, Pratama category.
The recognition was presented by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia during the Child-Friendly City/District Award Ceremony 2025, held in a hybrid format on Friday (Aug 8, 2025). From Indramayu, the event was attended virtually by District Secretary Aep Surahman and Head of the Population Control, Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office (DP3KB), Iman Sulaeman, from the Indramayu Command Center.
Minister Arifah Fauzi underlined that the award symbolizes strong dedication from local governments in building inclusive and sustainable systems for child protection. She emphasized the ultimate goal: ensuring every Indonesian child has the right to live, grow, learn, and play in a safe environment, free from violence and discrimination.
In her remarks, Minister Arifah also referred to three priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto that directly support children’s rights: free nutritious meals, free health checks, and the “people’s school” initiative. “With synergy, sincerity, and strong commitment from regional governments, a Child-Friendly Indonesia is not just a dream but a future we can achieve together,” she said.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, also congratulated Indramayu, stressing that child-friendly governance is fundamental to creating livable, safe, and inclusive communities. He highlighted the growing challenge of digital dependency among children and urged stakeholders to balance technology with safe physical spaces such as playgrounds, cycling paths, and child-friendly neighborhoods.
With this award, Indramayu is expected to continue strengthening policies and programs that safeguard children’s rights. Local governments are encouraged to maintain inclusive leadership, adopt child-centered policies, and foster collaboration across society to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for the younger generation.
For Indonesia, the recognition of Indramayu is more than a local achievement—it is a regional signal of the country’s commitment to building a future where every child is valued, protected, and empowered.
