South Tangerang, Indonesia — Seven Indonesian magicians have made history by receiving the prestigious Golden Merlin Award 2025 from the International Magicians Society (IMS) in New York. The recognition underscores Indonesia’s growing influence in the global magic scene, where illusion is not only entertainment but also a medium for education, business innovation, and social service.

The award ceremony took place at Home Brew Coffee & Eatery, Alam Sutera, South Tangerang, on November 8, 2025. IMS President and Founder Tony Hassini personally presented the awards, accompanied by performances from the honorees and guest stars including Joe Sandy, Oge Arthemus, and Steve Marcello.

The seven recipients represent diverse contributions: Winanto Wiryomartani for his six‑decade dedication bridging classical and modern magic; Victor Pudjiadi for anti‑drug campaigns using interactive illusions; Herry Budijanto Dragono (Mbah Dragon) for integrating magic into branding strategies; Pambudi Sunarsihanto for advancing mentalism with psychology and human capital expertise; Deddy Colt for charity performances in orphanages; Bing Rahardja for pioneering gospel magic; and Tukiran Acau for unique acts blending acrobatics, kungfu, and traditional Chinese healing.

Victor Pudjiadi stood out by winning two awards simultaneously—Best Magician Performing Anti‑Drugs Campaign and Best Motivational and Educational Magician for Anti‑Drug Campaign. His creative approach has proven effective in educating thousands about the dangers of narcotics.

Meanwhile, Mbah Dragon’s Magic Branding Concepts – Low Cost, High Impact demonstrates how illusion can be applied to modern marketing, while Bing Rahardja’s gospel magic shows how performance art can deliver moral and spiritual lessons. Tukiran Acau’s spectacular acts, such as producing dozens of goldfish from an empty tube, highlight the fusion of tradition and innovation.

The recognition from IMS positions Indonesia firmly on the global map of magic. Beyond illusion, these magicians have transformed their craft into tools for education, social empowerment, and cultural inspiration—proving that magic can be a force for change across ASEAN and beyond.
