Jakarta — The Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (KWI) has expressed its appreciation for the Hoegeng Awards 2025, describing the event as a vital platform for uncovering inspiring figures from across the country.
“We certainly appreciate initiatives like this. This nation truly needs role models, and even in the midst of a crisis of leadership, we continue to find inspiration from the remotest corners of our land,” said Father Hans Jeharut, Executive Secretary of KWI’s Commission on the Laity, speaking at the STIK/PTIK Mutiara Auditorium in South Jakarta on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Father Hans noted that many members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) serve with high integrity and dedication, often going beyond the call of duty. Drawing on his own experiences in Nias, the Riau Islands interior, and Bangka Belitung, he shared encounters with police officers who had become local beacons of service and inspiration.
He emphasized that such dedication deserves public recognition, as these awards can inspire fellow officers to follow in their footsteps. “Events like this open our eyes to the fact that there is still hope, and that good still exists,” he said.
At the same time, Father Hans stressed the importance of constructive criticism to help improve Polri as an institution and set a standard for other organizations. “Once again, congratulations to Trans Corp and the Indonesian National Police. May this encourage Polri to be better and inspire society at large — and also other institutions — to foster such inspiring figures,” he added.
The Hoegeng Awards, a collaboration between detikcom and Polri, honors exemplary police officers selected by a panel of experts from thousands of public nominations. The 2025 recipients are:
- Kombes Rita Wulandari – Police Protector of Women, Children, and Vulnerable Groups
- Aipda Rahmad Muhajirin – Dedicated Police Officer
- Iptu Andi Sriulva Baso – Innovative Police Officer
- Bripka Annas – Border and Remote Area Police Officer
- Kombes Seminar Sebayang – Police Officer with Integrity
The event was supported by BRI, Telkom Indonesia, BNI, Mandiri, and PLN, underscoring strong cross-sector commitment to recognizing integrity, innovation, and service in law enforcement.
